Bio

I am an artist and musician living in Portland, Oregon. I have been drawing since I was a child, but ended up playing music pretty seriously for 20 years, and came back to art more, as I knew I would, though music is still a very good friend. I do mostly drawings, black and white pen and ink, ”digital etching” (rendered in Microsoft Paint, chosen for its rawness) and large, detailed oil pastel drawings.

The overall theme that seems to pull me in is urban life, its juxtaposition of wealth and poverty, and human emotion within and outside of walls. I suppose that is why there are many bricks present. Human technologies that last centuries unchanged, as do bricks and walls, fascinate me. My main influences are Edward Gorey, Robert Crumb, Maurice Sendak and Edvard Munch.

I have played in such bands as The Treepeople, The Halo Benders and Violent Green, as well as many other bands. I have also appeared in many side projects and studio projects as well as in the work of song writers. In short, I am a music whore.

Oh yes, and to pay the bills I make a living training people to use web-based software to distribute pesky advertising.

If anyone is interested in using my artwork for album covers, magazines, you name it, please contact me.
